Welcome aboard. Odds are you will find the 800 underpowered and will want more HP. I would suggests spending the extra few grand and go right to the 1000 cc model. It will cost you more to get the HP out of the 800 to equal the 1000. The ECM does not play well as it is.

Welcome to the site Tony...I agree with what Ody said, if you can afford the 1000 than go for it...Up here theres a 1500 dollar difference between the 800XT and 1000XT.

When you mean under powered do you mean top end speed or through the hole power band. I'm looking for something to plow my driveway, hunt, trail ride and some lawn work I don't do much if any high speed driving. The Commander will replace my 02 Grizzly so I can't imagine power being a problem for me. Do you still think it will be underpowered for what I'm using it for.

I dont have a commander. Maybe one day??? But if your not power hungry I would think the 800 would be fine!? I myself have a 550 arctic cat prowler and that is plent good for what I needed. Have 72'' plow on it and it work great... the few times I got to use it. It will almost hit 60 on the speedo. So I think the 800 would be fine for you??? But there are others on here that would know more than I would about the commander. Good luck with what ever you choose.

I've been plowing with my Grizzly for 10yrs. and we average 150+" of snow a year and it's done surprisingly well. I'm just tired of freezing my butt off every time I have to plow. I'm looking for a cab enclosure for the Commander does anyone have any suggestions. I found one by Mammothskins that looks pretty nice but would prefer a hard sided cab.

Thanks my kind of site! SXS's and hunting/ guns can't ask for much more than that. Ok, I could but don't want to sound greedy!

I am not saying the 800 will not do the job. What i am saying is it's a 1300# machine and by the time you load it up with a plow, gear and people your gonna want the extra power the 1000 offers. Also the 1000 will have a better and quicker resale if you decide to go another route.
A lot of guys who have bought the 800 now wish they would have went right to the 1000.

Good to know, thanks. This is why I'm asking I don't want any regrets after the fact.
