    Default Break-In Service

Like the Kawasaki Teryx I imagine the Can-Am Commander has a break in period in which after they recommend fluid changes. Has anyone performed any of these fluid changes, what all were they recommending be changed? I imagine oil and differential fluid. Actually, if no one has yet, maybe it is a good time to see if someone can take pictures and do a write-up we can put in the 'How-To' forums here.

I would love to see a helpful Break-in Service thread here. I havent even read the owners manual yet.

Im pulling my clutch tommorrow, so I will have that part of the Commander torn-up. Will try and take some pics and give a credible dialog in a thread.

LBR changed the engine oil...said a few expletive words..(had to cover the dogs ears)...after all said and done he said awe that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
He will be doing both diffs and gearbox after this next weekend of riding

The biggest problem I have heard about is not tighten the drain plug and it coming loose.

Nice, if you want to do a write-up with pictures, I will can put it in the 'How-To' section as well, I am sure that would be helpful to a lot of people.

They want you to change all the fluids at 10 hours, with the exception of the radiator fluid. I did all mine and it was a pain in the ass!! It's hard not to get oil all over the damn place.

Welcome to the site Waynes...from the coast of Oregon...Barbara

Whether it be right or wrong, a lot of the guys on forums recommends the motomans breakin....Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power

It's good reading material...even though that's not how you did your engine breakin (which is ok) read why you should not use synthenic oil he recommends 1000 miles.

Getting back to your question. Does it come on everytime you start it or just that one time? Maybe a loose connection... One of the horror stories I heard was I think 2 different peeps didn't tighten the plug and it came loose and lost engine oil/pressure.

read why you should not use synthenic oil he recommends 1500 miles.

What type of oil was in the commander from the factory? The manual calls for synthetic blend in the summer and full synthetic in the winter.

It is Synthenic from Can-Am, but he say's get it outta there at 20miles, we did our first oil change at 30miles... it has to do with the honing of the cylinders and seating in the rings..now days vs yesteryear
