Drove a new 1000 weenend before last. Right off the bat I found something that turned me off. As soon as I put it in gear, it clunked. Reps said it was the clutch engaging. I thought it was pretty loud and hard clunk. The reps agreed and said it was a prototype and once they started coming off of the assembly line, it would be taken care of.

I would not let that discourage you...my Teryx sometimes goes into gear a little "loud" but nothing wrong with it.

Aside from that, what did you think of the machine overall?

I really liked the power. I rode two of the regular 4 wheelers (Renegade and XT?) and both of them made the same clutch noise. Just not as loud. Others I talked to said this was just the way it is with Can-Ams. The seats were very comfortable and I liked how easy it was to hook up the net hooks. I know many will jump my case becasue I was comparing it to my Rhino. Yamaha has a great belt set up. A couple of guys I ride with have Rzrs and they carry spare belts because of the Polaris set up. The Can-Am Team had a short track of about 1/2 mile set up with trails and a little mud hole. The power was great and I 'm sure it will do anything you ask of it. I also liked the compartment under the bed. Fun to drive but just a different feel than the Rhino. I didn't come away thinking "I just have to have one", but would like to drive one for a longer period of time and really get a feel for it before I shell out the money. But I also think I will end up with one down the road once they get the bugs worked out and the supply becomes more common and some of the dealers need to get rid of them and will be willing to deal a little. There was several dealers at this event and most of them said they were alloted 5 between now and Xmas and the had deposits on them.

Thanks also for the nice welcome from everyone.

No problem with comparing it to your Rhino, heck I would have to compare it to my Teryx

I am sure as more and more people start receiving their Commanders we will get a lot more feedback on likes and dislikes.

Once again, great to have you with us, enjoy your stay

I recently put a turbo on my Rhino and it really made a difference. Very pleased with the power and the way it runs but still do not have all the bugs out of it. The stock carb didn't work well and I have made a manifold and put a Holly-Weber two barrel, two stage progressive linkage on it. Much easier to change jets, etc. My biggest problem is that I bought a used kit that was to have less than 400 miles on it and just like new. Yeah, right. Had to have it overhauled in May and new bearings installed again last week. This has been a real pain in the rear.
