Many of us talk about recalls on this site, but you can also go to www.canamoffroad.com/owner-center and click on recall information. There have been two that involved the commanders, one was for a problem with the installation of the steering and the other had to do with debris getting on top of the skid plates where it can get over heated by the exhaust pipes and start on fire. You can read the details at the canaamoffroad site, you would have to talk to the previous owner if he has had either of these done or a dealer should be able to tell you by the vin number. The debris issue is resolved by them putting a screen on the front end that prevents large pieces of debris from getting on the skid plates. The steering, I do not know be cause I replaced my steering with an eps and I am replacing the rack and pinion with a rackzilla setup.

I guess to get a direct mailing from Can Am when they issue a recall, you could send that question to Can Am using their contact us facility on their web site. A dealer may be able to help you with that also, I am not sure if they got my contact information directly from the dealer when I bought my machine new or if they also use titles and receive notice of title transfers, but they should be able to change their information on the ownership of your machine.
