    DefaultSkid Plates

Well while everyone is out having a good time at Dune Fest maybe this could be a topic of discussion and let me know what you all thought. I have also posted this on a couple sites.

On the underside of my Commander there are these Plastic Plates that I think they are calling Skid Plates.....
All they seem to do is hold sand and have to be dumped after every trip as they fill up from the factory holes in the floorboards.

So my question is since I ride 99% Sand what is wrong with leaving them off? They have centering washers so they are not really a Structure/Strength issue, Are They?

Since I don't go down in Tree Shots and slide over trees like I did on my quad I am not sure what they are protecting? I would keep them and if I did go out in the dirt then put them on.

    Thoughts?

I would take them off if your not using them to skid over logs/rocks and the sort. The metal underbelly of the machine would be fine in the sand and as you stated, the skids serve really no structural support.

The skid plates are a waste of plastic, they do almost nothing to protect the underside. If you spend your time in the sand, pull them off but if you start to trail ride or rack climb, get some UHMW plates, well worth the money.
