Ok...so, as many of you know I have been debating the purchase of a commander for the better part of 2 months or more. I thought I had narrowed it down to an "X" model and was planning the purchase of one up to today.

I called a local dealer to see if he could beat the price I was quoted for a 2012 X and he didnt have an X in stock. However, he had a Camo XT in stock. The other dealer (the one I was going to get the X from) also had a camo but quoted me $600 more than the X for the camo. So, when this new dealer told he had a camo commander I said I think this is more than I am willing to spend.

The price we ended up getting to was $14,599 + Tax (no title fees or any other junk)...

The OTD price is 15700...

I have put a $500 deposit on it for him to hold it 'till friday (soonest I can get over there) as I haven't seen the camo in person.

Please tell me if this is a good deal or not?

What have others paid for a 2012 Camo XT 1000?

Can't help with pricing directly, but two notes ...

Money isn't everything when it comes to picking between two dealers ....ask around, do your homework and enter that into the ultimate equation of purchase decisions also...your dealer can make or break your love for your Commander within the first month if problems arise.....noone can foo.foo this statement and not may peeps think about it until it's ....TOO LATE!

The other major note is for suspensions between the two models....are you gonna upgrade to LT in the future? ...if so, xt savings would be cool now ...if not, you will probably want either an X to start with or equip an xt with x shock takeoffs or aftermart for a proper ride, especially with the Mrs. or your beloved youngster beside you ....filter that large dollar item in also

I appreciate your feedback, and i agree about good and bad dealer. I would expect that a 16K rig would be basically problem free and not a :poop:

As for the X shocks, I will be driving at 10 or under most all the time in woods or hauling trailors/chainsaws/etc...

I am not sold that I would notice a difference in the shocks for my style of riding.

One of my largest factors (likley a dumb one) is that HATE the school bus yellow color :furious:

No offence is meant to those that have yellow...its just not my favorite color.

Was that for the camo? There is an additional cost for the camo
Sorry that was for the yellow and black X, before the camo was available,

I just checked the website of one of our dealers here in Oregon and the MSRP list price for a camo 1000xt was 15,299.00
and where I bought mine they didn't have one in stock so I couldn't check the price from them.

Hopefully that helps somewhat

Seems like a good price to me but we always get screwed over here in Cali. Taxes, taxes, taxes & more taxes.

Hi,

I don't have a Camo Commander XT, but it was my first choice for purchasing a Commander. I'm in Alaska, and the dealer (he says that he is among the largest in the west/northwest) I'm working with says that those Camo Commanders are pretty rare, and that I wouldn't be able to purchase one through his dealership in the foreseeable future (any time soon). So, with that bit of sad purchase news, I decided to purchase a 2012 blue Limited! I don't have this machine yet, it will be here next month. If you want the Camo, I would try to convince you to just get the one you have available to you asap!

If you were to "build" a Commander from the BRP Commander website, the base MSRP price is $15,299.00. Now, enter the real world; I don't think that the price you're looking at is that far off. I think one of the bigger concerns, from what I've been told, is that those Camo Commanders might be a little hard to get a hold of!

I can't wait to get my Limited model; camo would have been nice, but I can't get one anytime soon.

Yeah, I agree on the rareness of the camo model. The first dealer that I spoke with had 2-3 limited models, 2 X models and several XTs (grey color and yellow).

That is not couting what they had back in their warehouse. However, they didn't have a camo model but told me they could order one but that the price was more than the X due to how hard they are to get. This was why I was not only shocked at dealer number 2 having one but it being cheaper than the XTs at dealer 1...

Neadless to say I am VERY excited to go look at it tommorrow when I get off work!!

I only wish my tax return would get here tommorrow so I could take it home with me and ride this weekend. :furious:

Oh well, its fun to think about it too.

I wish I could get the limited but I just can't justify the $$ for those. Not to mention I would destory the speakers in the floorboard with mud/water etc...

Indeed. My dealer had one on order and expected arrival in mid-Oct. I placed a deposit on it in September and was told by the end of Oct that the soonest they would get it from BRP, who was the cause of the delay, was mid-Nov. Finally took delivery on Dec. 1.

Worth the wait, though. The dealer even convinced BRP to give me a free 12 month warranty extension for the wait and broken time-of-delivery promise.

The only color I like better is the LTD blue. Man, that color is beautiful. But I think that the camo will show fewer scratches and the black rims look awesome with the camo, plus you can only get the blue in the LTD model which was way more machine than I needed. :)
