Thanks for the video, since a lot of people have not had a chance to compare these two vehicles, I think it is helpful to have all these side by side comparisons. (lol look at me, I made a funny...side x side, get it!?)

Seriously though, thanks for the video XXX!

If that is the Purple RZR S, then I was the driver of it. Please notice that I let off the throttle right before the line. A rookie error which I did a few times that night. The stopping distance allowed was (imo) not adequate. Would have had the Commander by about 1 ft if I'd not let up. I did the same thing in the womens finals. <sigh>

Next time... <grin> :)

edit to add---Nick with the 1000 Prowler did beat the Commander in the men's finals. That is a fair race...machine wise.

You bring up a valid point, as these machines progress, ultimately it will come down to driver. Jo, any motor mods on your Rzr S?

Hi, and---no, it's stock. I've had it about 5 weeks. I used to ride a 400 Big Bear but had to change as I had my right knee replaced. But anyway, back to topic... what it does come down to is the driver. I've not done any off the line drag racing since 1970(street). :) and, I had the understanding that this event was for fun (I did have a blast), not for a PR stunt for the Commander. So....imo, this vid is not a good example of the Commander's abilities. The 1000 Artic Cat Prowler did beat the Commander. The Prowler was stock as well. :giggle:

Ahhh got it...I can't speak for anyone else, however, in my opinion speed is only one aspect to a vehicle. Whether or not the Commander can beat a Rzr or a Prowler can beat a Commander to me is an non-issue, I am more concerned with being comfortable driving the machine, the fit and finish, reliability, etc. You can have the fastest machine in the world, however, if you don't feel comfortable driving it or can't make it back to camp, it is not all that fun ;)

To me top speed is not Important. Whats important for trail riding is getting to the top of a narly technical hill. That takes a lot of controllable torque to keep the wheels hooked up and not spinning.

We went up the switch back on Iron Mt. in Marysvale this past weekend, and it was a hoot! My Hubby's rhino was just long traveled. His ride was superior, and that ol'rhino seemed to me to give the best ride. And, if I must say so myself, he is a verrry good driver. I did that ride on my RZR and had a hoot of a good time. The views were breath taking at the top.

So yes, the trails are important. I love'em. About 3 weeks ago I took my RZR on trail 4 to trail 1(at Duck Creek, ut) in the rain and mud through lava rocks...etc... Anyway, it turned out to be a 4hr ride. We (Hubby was shotgun) came back with mud all over us, and my poor rzr had about 2 inches of caked mud on it! It took $8 at Mr. Bubbles to get the mud off.

Now, that is what I call fun. :giggle:

Heck yes you did! We ride on the streets as well here in Arizona...great to take the Teryx up to the store or over to a nearby friend's house! Many years ago I used to live in Sandy, UT when I was a little one, but Utah is a nice place!

In my Review I noticed!

I can say That i Did this same Thing When i was Doing my Reviews for the 2011 Polaris RZR 800 S & 2011 Can am commander XT 1000. I lined them up and I was Surprised With the Results. Obviously the Commander Won Every Time. What surprised me was that the RZR Did hold its own till about 200ft Thats were the Commander's More HP Stepped in. I did Do break & gas Dump When Launching the RZR I think that was the only reason why it held up a Little! All in all the RZR S Has its features. But the New Commander Will be a Huge Player For sure!
