Hi,
I am new to this Forum, so first want to say hello to everyone!

I have recently purchased a Commander 1000. It runs great, however these days it doesn't want to start when the engine is cold. The outside temp is only about 75 degrees F, so that really isn't cold. I literally have to push the start button about 25 times, each time it gets closer to starting. Once it does, and the engine gets to normal operating temperature it runs fine. If I shut it down and start it back up while the engine is warm, it starts perfectly.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

That is an interesting problem that usually is never heard of with any FI Rotax ....

I think about the only thing you'll be able to do with this is check all of your fuses ....I'm not for certain, but there might be a fuse for the cold start enrichment system ....it acts like a choke for FI engines until it runs for a bit, then shuts off I believe ...

You could follow the procedure to extract trouble codes out of it also... other than that, you may need to have the service department check it out for a bad cold start sensor or other problems ....

LBR,

Thanks for the welcome! I will take a look to see if it has a fuse for the cold start. Thanks for the advice!

First off my friend, welcome :wavespin:

This does sound like an odd problem for an EFI equipped machine.

Lance brings up a good point about the enrichment (choke)

I think at this point, a trip to the dealer may be in order.

Our Teryx's had a similar issue that was eventually sent out as a service bulletin. Granted this was on a carb equipped machine, however, it had to do with the carb heaters not functioning properly and created very difficult cold starts.

Thanks dieselpowered. My biggest problem is that I do not have a dealer anywhere near me. I have exported this unit :( Will look into the fuse tonight and let you know. Thanks.
