I drove my Can Am 800 commander yesterday for the first time. periodically when I was in the throttle hard for an extended period of time, the engine would cut in and out as if it was not getting gas? any ideas?

Lack of fuel does sound like the problem if you were just cruising under throttle...

If the back tires slipped excessively, like peeling out or drifting so to speak when the engine did it little trick, then we know what and how to fix the problem

Full tank of gas on a tar road.

it happened on a tar road and in the snow... i would say it did it three times during two hours of riding.

Do you imagine on the tar road the rear tires could have slipped under acceleration just before it happened?

Lets do this .....keep driving it as nothing is wrong....when the rear tires slip excessively all of a sudden, the ECU will pull power away and do what you described ....we call it the shaft saver mode...more on that later

Just make sure it runs fine otherwise and we'll hook you up with a black box that will eliminate that issue....we just need to know that it's the shaft saver mode that was doing it to ya ....
