I got a few hours to abuse the semi-local BRP rep's Commander 1000XT over the weekend. We started with some trail riding and switched to some 500ft drag racing (street race style, flagged start, hard pack), and then finished with some real 300ft dirt/sand drag racing.

These guys didn't know what they were getting into when they let me loose on this thing.

Couple highlights:

It will beat a stock outlander 800XT in 300ft in sand/dirt (outlander has stock act's, commander has stock 'horns.)

It will ALMOST beat a stock Renegade X in the same distance/surface.

It absolutely destroys every other UTV we could find to race it, 6 lengths in 500ft + against a modified RZR S...with 2 BIG guys in the UTV, and 1 small guy in the RZR.

The only video I have up right now is me thrashing some poor honda that wanted some.

In the interest of full disclosure, the outlander was spinning the tires quite a bit, but so did the commander. I think on hard-pack, the outlander would win, but not by a lot.

The commander was only 2-3 tenths slower than a 2011 renegade X with a 102lb pro jockey on it, in the loose dirt.

Wow, I don't know, beat an Outlander 800?? I had an Outlander that I just sold for a deposit down on a Commander. That thing is the fastest utility ATV out there. I can't see the Commander 1000 being twice the weight and only 14 more horsepower than the Outlander and still beating it. My Outlander was a monster!! I really hope this is true, but can't really see how.

My 800 Outty was a handful too....so much stuff floating on the internet, who knows.......it was a CanAm dude, so enter the "possibly bias" clause......so could the difference partly be the tires? was the Outty in 4X2?

When our Commander gets broke in a little, BLR and I will be doing some """Tests""" in the dunes between our 2 machines....once that gets established, then we'll know who to pick on and who to hide from.....:rofl:......Lance
