Hey Mark, congrats on the delivery confirmation and welcome to the site, great to have you with us!

Let me first ask you...are you referring to a utility trailer or a bumper pull travel trailer / toyhauler?

Also, something like this would likely be beneficial to have (this is just an example):

Michael,
I want to tow a 28ft. Wildcat pull trailer with a GMC with a 6.5 ft. bed. I was going to use ramps like the ones in the pic. placed at the front/top of the bed so the commander is at an angle. (like it was going to go over the top of the cab if you keep going)That should shortin the amount of overhang at the tailgate!I need to have the tailgate down and not hit the trailer or the propane tanks. I can go to 5 gal. tanks if need be....Mark

Ya I suppose I would be worried about the turning radius you would cut off by having the tailgate down. Just to clarify, I was not referring to the ramps but the tailgate supports (hate to see those cables snap under the weight of the Commander)

I have not done it, so I am trying to visualize if I have ever seen it done or not.

Ok I was thinking about it, might work. Place the ramps on your tailgate and run some 8' x 12" boards up to the front of the bed. Drive the Commander up the ramps and onto the boards. Secure the Commander in place and then remove the tailgate. The boards will obviously be longer than the bed, however, the weight of the Commander should support the back wheels on the boards. Something like this could work? I am just thinking with the tailgate down, you could run into issues with either hitting the trailer or propane when making a turn.

You can also buy a hitch extender witch would move your trailer back 1 to 2 feet. Just make sure it's rated to pull the weight of your trailer.
That could be an option as well, looking around all I have been able to find are those rated at 3500# with a 350# tongue rating. I would venture to say that his travel trailer weighs more than 3500#

Its a good option though if you can find one that is rated where you need it to be!

Has anybody tried carrying a 1000xt in the bed of a 6.5ft truck bed with the tailgate down and pulling a pull trailer? If so how was it done? Thanks...Mark....PS. delivery date late Nov!!!
Mark, I just got my commander xt 1000 :)
I have a 1 ton dodge dually and it has an eight ft. Bed.

I don't know if this Can-Am can fit in the bed, if so what needs to be done first.

Any members offering input is welcome.
Mark did you get yours in the truck bed?

LBR,
Thanks for the welcome.
Watched the video of what Jason did. Nice Dodge Flatbed.
I have a stock dodge 8 ft. Bed. So I missed the mark about the type of bed I have.

Anyone know if a Commander XT will fit in a stock 8 ft. Bed?

Lance,
Your quick reply is encouraging, must be talking to a group that's in the known.
Jason did a fine job. Thanks for the link.
I posted, I thought was a treaded link yet was unable to find it.

As stated in a lost post, "will a commander xt fit in a stock 8 ft. Bed?

We have a Ford dually with the 8' bed....width is no problem....if the front bumper were to be pulled up ABSOLUTELY tight to the front of the bed, the rear tires would BARELY sit on the bed without being on the tailgate.......I wouldn't try it in our truck at all unless the tailgate were left down....hope this helps ya!......Lance

A follow up,
Commander will not fit in my 1 ton Dodge but will fit in my neighbors 1 ton Chevy.
The outside edge of where the tailgate closes; Dogde has an extra roll on the vertical rim of appox. 1/2 inch x'2= 1 inch.
Solution a 6x10 foot carry on utility trailer with ramp built-on.

Lance in the thread talked about his Ford "Tight, and take off front bumper." it can fit. Not recommended unless long haul to get home and short on cash =)

I'm not sure if our Ford Dually bed is exactly the same as a Ford F-350 1 ton with single tires?....probably have to go to the Ford Truck forum to get into the know....
