quick question if you have not broken your tie rod yet, would it be beneficial to take some measurements before removing your old tie rod to help get the alignment close when you install the new one?

Well, it sure couldn't hurt. But as long as you're steering wheel is straight when you start and when you finish, you'll be pretty sure that everything is in line.
