So I went down to the Dealer this morning and talked with one of the two sales managers. Funny how they remember all the things that are to their advantage but get kind of fuzzy otherwise.
Yesterday afternoon, he calls me on the phone that he has an XT model. I tell him I want a Basic 1000 model. He says he could trade out the XT for a Basic with another dealer. He tells me $12.8k for the basic, not including Tax, Lic, etc.
I get down there this morning, with my good friend and riding buddy to talk turkey with the guy. He hands me a print-out and tells me he has a guy on the way to the bank to get a check for the XT and hes gonna pay $19.3k. I look at the figure and look at him and chuckle haha. I tell him there is no way im going to pay $3300.00 for Freight and Handling. He says he could knock off half of the $3300.00 and its mine if the guy doesnt show up. I tell him again that I want a basic model cuz im gonna strip it down and build it my way anyway. So he does the calculations for a Basic 1000 minus half the Freight and Handling and the price looks like $16.5k. We have a talk, and I tell him Ive purchased toys before with no Freight and Handling and a price reduction on the MSRP on top of that. I also told him I understand these things are all hyped up right now and they are going to make a nice piece of change on them, but not off of me.
Im dissapointed but, also in the game now. I will search and talk with dealers until I get one perhaps at the end of the month that might want to move a unit.
I can pay cash but not unless im happy with the deal. To Be continued.
If anyone who already owns a Commander 1000 any model cares to share any purchase pricing please do. I know its kinda personal but hey im askin anyway
