So I went down to the Dealer this morning and talked with one of the two sales managers. Funny how they remember all the things that are to their advantage but get kind of fuzzy otherwise.
Yesterday afternoon, he calls me on the phone that he has an XT model. I tell him I want a Basic 1000 model. He says he could trade out the XT for a Basic with another dealer. He tells me $12.8k for the basic, not including Tax, Lic, etc.
I get down there this morning, with my good friend and riding buddy to talk turkey with the guy. He hands me a print-out and tells me he has a guy on the way to the bank to get a check for the XT and hes gonna pay $19.3k. I look at the figure and look at him and chuckle haha. I tell him there is no way im going to pay $3300.00 for Freight and Handling. He says he could knock off half of the $3300.00 and its mine if the guy doesnt show up. I tell him again that I want a basic model cuz im gonna strip it down and build it my way anyway. So he does the calculations for a Basic 1000 minus half the Freight and Handling and the price looks like $16.5k. We have a talk, and I tell him Ive purchased toys before with no Freight and Handling and a price reduction on the MSRP on top of that. I also told him I understand these things are all hyped up right now and they are going to make a nice piece of change on them, but not off of me.
Im dissapointed but, also in the game now. I will search and talk with dealers until I get one perhaps at the end of the month that might want to move a unit.
I can pay cash but not unless im happy with the deal. To Be continued.

If anyone who already owns a Commander 1000 any model cares to share any purchase pricing please do. I know its kinda personal but hey im askin anyway :p

My salesman is telling me $16,029.00 O.T.D. on a 1000X. No shipping or handling charges. We'll see if he keeps his word come delivery day.

Wow HillBilly,
Thats an "eye-opener" for me. That seems perfectly legit as well. I hope you get it.
Im thinking of calling him back and giving him a flat offer of $15k, otd for a basic 1000 and just sit on it for awhile. Out here in California it seems pricing is always higher than most other states, but no way im gonna lay down almost 20k :bounce:

Thank you,
Dave

@LBR,
I gave them a call and got i think it was $13,555. That was everything but License. So thats in line with California since Oregon has no sales tax. Out here Tax on the 1000 i calculated as $1120. Im guessing License at around $400.00. So my offer of $15,000.00 seems legit. I did call my local dealer and told them Id give $15k otd for a basic 1000. They said they would entertain my offer. The salesman told me the problem with California is they want me to register the vehicle in California and I would be subject to sales tax and all license fees for California. Which opens up a different can of worms. Interesting.
Thanks for the info Lance

I ran into that issue here in Arizona. I purchased a Yamaha R1 in Colorado when I was living there for work...I did pay Colorado sales tax. When I moved back to Arizona I still had the temp tags on the R1, I went into the DMV and they wanted me to pay Arizona sales tax to register the vehicle (I made the mistake of telling them I purchased in in Colorado) I forget how it happened, however, I went back a few days later and only paid the registration fees and no Arizona tax, I seem to remember telling them I bought it used from someone.

The Salesman at Pro Motor Sports said there might be a time limit that the vehicle would have to stay in Oregon that would kill the sales tax charge in California but he wasnt exactly sure. If i could save over a thousand bux it might be worthwhile to purchase out of state and then bring it in. Most likely im gonna end up paying the Ca. tax.

My dealer told me 16885 OTD on the X, sales tax is pretty high where I live. If they give me this price jack crap I will not buy it! I have already sold my Rhino for the X but I will go buy a Rzr 4 or Ranger crew before I pay 20K for the X!:nah:

@dmac,
Try and hardball them on the freight and handling. Im willing to pay MSRP at this time but all that extra fluff for them is just rediculous. The next week or so will be interesting. I read somewhere that a few people with deposits are backing out after being stroked for close to 20k. I hope its true as if the units are not flying out the door, dealers may start backpedaling some.

What's the base price for a RZR 4? here in Oregon the RZRs is only $200.00 less than a Commander X.....I have not looked but I would take a guess that a RZR4 is more than an X...here in Oregon that is, and that is with no sales tax...on any of them, since we have no TAX...

I got my XT for $16447, they charged me 800 for freight, there was 4 people there ready to buy it if I didn't want it so I figured if I wanted it I was going to have to pay the frieght. I will say though my dealer told me the price back in June and he stuck to that very dollar figure.

@Wingshooter,
Where are you located? That price sounds reasonable if you had four other guys for competition.
Congrats btw.

I live in Rancho Cucamonga, I bought it in Victorville, they have an X model but I was told there is 4 people on the list to get it The #1 guy is waiting on the finacing and the dealer told me other dealers are calling him telling him they will pay what ever he wants for it. I was 10 to 15 on the list for 3 different dealers in LA area and they would not give me a price unless I gave them a down payment. So I just started going further away until I found one.

Not sure, I haven't really checked on the price, I am really wanting the X, I just hope the dealer treats me right!

Changed my mind. Going for the XT in case i get the Woodsy Bug down the road. Called the Dealer and offered up 16k for an XT. Told him if he could come close I'd write him a check. Waiting for their return call right now.
Looks like their "Hot" buyer on the way to the bank yesterday dissappeared lol. Of course he was looking at 19k. I guess ill pay a little bonus for the Luxury of having one right away. Hoping for the best.
